(Los Angeles, CA) – DC Studios, the newly-formed subsidiary of Warner Bros. Entertainment, has announced plans for 10 new film and television projects. Co-Chairmen and CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran, who lead the company across film, television, and animation, revealed the first chapter of their long-term interconnected story for the DC franchise, “Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters.”

The first chapter of the new story arc features five new films and five television series already in development for HBO Max. The projects aim to highlight the “love, compassion, and the innate goodness of the human spirit,” while minimizing audience confusion and maximizing engagement across platforms, according to Safran.

Gunn will write “Superman: Legacy,” the first film in the new slate, which is slated for a global release in theaters on July 11, 2025. “Superman: Legacy” will focus on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. The highly-anticipated sequel “The Batman – Part II” is also slated for release on October 3, 2025.

The upcoming film projects include: “The Authority,” which will introduce WildStorm characters to the DCU; “The Brave and the Bold,” an unusual father-son story inspired by Grant Morrison’s comic series; “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,” a science fiction adventure based on Tom King’s award-winning recent comics; and “Swamp Thing,” which will investigate the dark origins of the character.

The television projects for HBO Max include: “Creature Commandos,” a seven-episode animated show written by Gunn; “Waller,” a series starring Viola Davis and written by Christal Henry and Jeremy Carver; “Booster Gold,” a series about a hero using technology from the future to pretend to be a superhero in present day; “Lanterns,” an event series following intergalactic cops John Stewart and Hal Jordan as they uncover a dark mystery; and “Paradise Lost,” a drama set in Themyscira, home of the Amazons and birthplace of Wonder Woman.

This major slate of projects marks a new chapter for the iconic DC franchise and will provide fans with a unified and interconnected story across multiple platforms. With talented filmmakers at the helm, fans can expect exciting and innovative storytelling in the years to come.
